The Opportunity
The Delta Police Department is seeking a passionate, energetic, hardworking Analyst to join our Intelligence Management section. If you have practice monitoring, identifying, analyzing and interpreting crime data, have a keen attention to detail and enjoy being an integral part of the team, we want to hear from you!

Nature and Scope of Work
This is complex and specialized statistical and analytical work in support of criminal investigations and the development of department projects and programs. An incumbent of this class collects, evaluates, analyzes and interprets a wide variety of investigative and intelligence data and information; monitors and identifies crime patterns, trends and other factors; participates and provides analytical support in the development of projects and programs; prepares reports and recommendations located upon analysis; and establishes and maintains liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts. Considerable independent judgement and action are exercised in carrying out assignments while unusual, more complex or policy issues are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance in terms of quality of services rendered and achievement of desired results.

Required expertise, expertise and Abilities
   » Sound expertise of traffic rules and regulation governing the safe operation of passenger automobiles and emergency vehicles.
   » Sound expertise of automotive equipment related to the work performed.
   » Sound expertise of departmental functions, rules and safe work practices governing the work.
   » Working expertise of the geography and street locations of the City of Delta.
   » capability to safely operate automotive vehicles.
   » capability to execute minor vehicle maintenance and servicing tasks.
   » capability to operate the software, computer and office equipment utilized in the work.
   » capability to maintain inventories and records and perform a variety of clerical and recordkeeping tasks.
   » capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts including members and established vendors.
   » capability to execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
   » Skill in the use and care of a variety of tools and equipment used in the work.
Desirable Training & practice
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related training and sound related practice in minor vehicle maintenance or as an attendant in a garage, or an equivalent combination of training and practice. Preference will be given to any candidates that have completed a safe/defensive/advance driver training course.

Required Licences, Certifications and Registrations
Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia – Class 3 with Air brake endorsement preferred.

Security Clearance
Every employee with Delta Police Department is expected to uphold our Core Values. An enhanced security clearance (which involves several stages) will be part of the selection process. The clearance must be maintained all over employment.

Hours of Work
35 hour Standard work week: 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday

Pay Rates
$26.89 - $31.60 per hour
