The ideal candidate for this job offer will be a Fire Services professional with practice with Health & Safety Management Systems who has demonstrated the capability to operate and lead in a volunteer career composite environment. The ideal candidate must have strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership abilities and communication expertise and demonstrated success in leading on the Fire Ground while effectively managing the administrative requirements of the department and its programs. The Whitecourt Fire Department is housed in a modern facility with excellent equipment and apparatus. Fire Services, working with the RCMP, the Ambulance Service and mutual aid partners, is critical to the safety and quality of life in our community. Main Responsibilities: » Reporting to the Fire Chief, this job offer is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and delivery of the firefighter training program, including all functions connected with maintaining training equipment, facilities, records and personnel training files; » Provide management, supervision and support for up to 50 volunteer firefighters. » Ensures detailed records are kept for all maintenance functions.Ensures all processes pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the department’s vehicle fleet and equipment are followed to ensure all apparatus and equipment are maintained in a ready state for response. » Evaluation, monitoring and participation of fire avoidance programs and control policies for the municipality; » Act as the On-Call Duty agent on a rotational basis, responding to provide management, supervision and command of emergency incidents. » Assisting with the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, and assist the Fire Chief in ensuring that the Department remains within budget. » Reporting to the Director of Community Safety, coordinate and manage the Town Safety Program, and assist with the implementation of various safety programs & initiatives. » Foster and Champion a safe work environment with staff, and ensure compliance with applicable OH&S legislation & policies. » Prepare and participate in safety audits, reviews, inspections, and incident investigations. » Act as the liaison to the various Safety Committee’s established in Town Departments Education & practice: this job offer requires the following Qualifications required » Minimum of five-year practice in a career or volunteer composite fire department in progressively responsible functions. » practice in working with volunteer fire departments with a solid background in the planning, coordination and delivery of training programs; » NFPA 1001 Level I and II Firefighter » NFPA 1002 Driver, Pump, Aerial Operator » NFPA 1021 Level 1 Fire agent » NFPA 1041 Level II Fire Service Instructor » NFPA 1521 Incident Safety agent » NFPA 1521 Health & Safety agent » Certified Safety Codes agent (Fire) Inspector Level II, Investigator Level II » ICS 200 » Class 3 Drivers License with Air Brake Endorsement » Health & Safety Management Systems » Health & Safety Auditing The Town of Whitecourt is committed to its employees and provides a competitive income and first-rate benefits package.
