Offer: Recreation Programmer - Town of Comox:Job description:Recreation Programmer - Town of Comox»» Town of ComoxRecreation ProgrammerPart TimeComox Community Centre The Town of Comox invites applications for the permanent Recreation Programmer position. this job offer is a regular, part-time (30 hours per week) Union (CUPE Local 556) position with a current rate of pay of $32.11 per hour plus benefits, and includes a three month probationary period. The prosperous applicant will be required to work some weekend, evening and/or statutory holiday shifts. The Recreation Department has applied to Town of Comox Council in the 2021 budget to increase the hours to fulltime (35 hours per week); if prosperous the anticipated increase of hours is June 1, 2021. The Recreation Programmer, under the direction of the Recreation manager, is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating a variety of programs. The Recreation Programmer is also responsible for promoting interest and participation in recreation programs, directing the work of instructors and volunteers, as well as organizing and executing community special events. Other tasks and Responsibilities: » Plans, schedules, coordinates, implements, supervises and evaluates a variety of programs and special events » Assists in promotion and marketing of programs » contacts with community organizations and works in partnership to provide recreation services » Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating short and long-term plans for recreation services » Supports and promotes exceptional customer service Required expertise and expertise: » Completion of post-secondary degree in recreation from a recognized institution » Minimum of two years’ practice or a combination of education, training and practice » expertise of marketing strategies and techniques » Staff managery practice » Excellent computer expertise, including Excel, Word, and Outlook » Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, public relations, negotiation, problem solving, decision making, leadership abilities and general management expertise » Valid First Aid certification (Level 1 with CPR and AED, or greater) » Valid Class 5 Driver’s license » Clear criminal record check » practice with recreation management software preferred A complete job description is available at Applications should be directed to the attention of Ms. Amy Bauman, Recreation manager, Comox Community Centre by email Email address: abauman@comox.ca and will be received until 4:30 pm Monday, March 15, 2021.
