This is technical, clerical and drafting work in the gathering and preparation of diverse information relative to a variety of municipal planning matters. An incumbent researches, collects, analyzes and reports to a superior on specific aspects of planning projects such as the Burnaby Official Community Plan, Burnaby Transportation Plan and Community Plans; performs skilled drafting assignments in the preparation of maps, drawings and graphic presentations to illustrate reports and to facilitate the presentation of planning information; take photographs as required; assembles a variety of data from available sources to assist professional staff in their reply to specific requests for information and in their preparation of reports; provides a variety of detailed technical information and assistance to the public and other municipal staff on matters related to the work performed; Performs related work as required. Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by drafting and technical courses plus sound related practice or an equivalent combination of training and practice. Considerable expertise of the bylaws, department policies, practices and procedures governing the work performed; of drafting, layout and graphic presentation methods and techniques applicable to municipal planning work. capability to execute a variety of skilled drafting, graphic presentation and layout with minimal supervision; to explain and apply various bylaws and procedures and to assist various contacts on matters related to the work. Skill in the use of drafting and graphic art equipment. Professional digital photography practice, as well as expertise and practice working with ArcGIS, PCensus and AutoCard is considered an asset. The ideal candidate has practice with producing advertising, books, maps, and presentations for print and digital platforms; with professional application of Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, and other content development software. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. This is a temporary full time opportunity to December 31, 2021. Please apply online by March 29, 2021.
