The County is one of Ontario’s newest Designated Viticultural Areas. Residents and tourists enjoy artistic and cultural events and activities including food, music, arts festivals and wineries/breweries. The County has been recognized by major publications for its innovative economy, communities and culture, and is looking to fill one of our senior leadership abilities functions to lead and supervise the day to day operations of the Clerk's Office.
 
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative agent, the Municipal Clerk provides skills and leadership abilities in managing the various functions of the Clerk's Office, including but not limited to legislative and secretariat services, vital statistics, municipal elections, archives and records management, and by-law and policy development. The Municipal Clerk is also responsible for the general management of the Clerk’s Office in providing quality service to the Council, advisory board and committee members and the public.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following Qualifications required
 
   » Diploma in public administration, business or related field or equivalent combination of education and practice.
   » C.M.O. or A.M.C.T. designation is preferred.
   » A minimum of 5 years senior management practice; preferably in the Clerk’s Office of a municipality.
   » Demonstrated practice in conducting municipal and school board elections is preferred.
   » practice with municipal records management legislation, programs and procedures.
   » Strong written and verbal communications, as well as presentation and customer service skills.
   » broad working expertise of Municipal Act, Municipal Elections Act, MFIPPA, the Marriage Act, the Vital Statistics Act and other significant legislation, with the capability to interpret complex legislation and regulations.
   » Proven effective interpersonal, organizational and research skills.
   » practice in leadership abilities and supervision of both unionized and non-unionized staff.
   » capability to collect, research and analyze data from a wide variety of sources.
   » Demonstrated capability to take and transcribe minutes, write staff reports, draft recommendations, motions and by-laws.
   » practice managing departmental budgets.
   » Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, data management and other related database applications.
   » Strong time management/project management skills with the capability to manage competing priorities.
   » Broad expertise of municipal operations, issues, policies and procedures.
   » Political acuity and the capability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times.
   » capability to work a flexible schedule including evening work as required for Council, Committee and Board meetings, and during the Election Cycle.
 
The current annual income range for this permanent full-time position is $87,794 to $106,676 as per Band 7 of the Non-Union By-Law.
